The extra downrod cone is useful for temporary storage of the transducer/downrod assembly on the baseplate.
It is meant for quick movements from location to another close location.
This extra cone should never be used for high speed movement across a lake. It is likely that the downrod would bounce out of the baseplate assembly and be torn off the boat.
